Solar works in Ireland!
Solar is better value than ever - the payback time is down to 5 years or less for many homes. Thanks to falling system costs, relentless efficiency gains, and strong government support. If you want to lower your bills, cut your carbon footprint, or make a smart long-term investment, solar could be one of the best decisions you make.
So what's the catch? The buying journey. Homeowners are too often hit with conflicting advice, confusing options and technical jargon, pushy sales tactics and quotes that are hard to compare. It's too easy to overpay or choose the wrong installer.
That's why we built AirPV.

How does AirPV work?
AirPV is a free, independent platform that helps you go solar with confidence. Simply enter your Eircode to check your home's solar potential using our industry-standard calculator, then view instant, like-for-like quotes from trusted local installers. We vet installers, prioritise quality equipment, and present everything in a clear, comparable and transparent way. No pressure, no spam and you stay in control: your details are only shared with installers you choose to contact.
We're putting the fun back into making electricity from the sun.
Our mission
To give homeowners the best solar experience in Ireland: simple, transparent and genuinely good value - and to raise standards across the market through trusted data and fair comparisons.
Our story
AirPV was founded by physicist Scott McKechnie, combining cloud-based software with real-world solar experience. The idea took shape after volunteer installations for schools in South America and years working on large-scale solar projects.
The simple insight was this: homeowners deserved a trusted, modern platform that makes solar easier to understand, easier to compare and better value.

AirPV is grateful for the generous support of the Local Enterprise Offices in Cork and Limerick.

The platform was also extensively studied as part of an MBA at UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School, with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) as project sponsor, and won best presentation when pitched to a class of business students, lecturers and Enterprise Ireland representatives.
